Dr. Danise J. Miller
Clinical Director-Thrive With Vision and Thrive Vision Therapy
I’d like to introduce myself! I’m Dr. Danise Miller, Doctor of Optometry. I’ve been an optometrist since 2002, although I’ve been in the biz’ since I was in college, when I worked as an optician. I graduated, with honors, from St. Cloud State University, with a BA degree in Biomedical Science in 1998, and from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, with a doctorate in 2002. I was initially very anxious about having to move away to attend graduate school. However, moving away made me realize that I truly love where I grew up, and that I wanted to return to Central MN to practice optometry.
I pride myself in my approach to vision and how vision affects the entire person. Whether I am working with a child with difficulties in school, with an athlete who has suffered a concussion or with an adult who has suffered a stroke, I am thinking about my role to provide for the whole person and his/her family. I listen to my patients and I strive to provide the best recommendations for clear, comfortable, effortless vision. This describes my emphasis as a Behavioral Optometrist.
Behavioral optometry addresses vision and visual skills beyond seeing 20/20 detail. If visual skills have developed to be inefficient, or if they have been altered with acquired brain injury, visual skills can be trained to be more efficient through optometric vision therapy and rehabilitation. I have taken extensive post-doctorate training from internationally-known experts in the area of vision therapy and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. I opened Thrive Vision Therapy in June of 2015. There, I am able to fulfill my dream of providing vision therapy.
I am a proud member of the Minnesota affiliate of the American Optometric Association, the College of Optometry in Vision Development, the Optometric Extension Program, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.
Because I am a ‘country kid’, I love almost any outdoor activity. I especially enjoy playing volleyball, bicycling, boating, golfing, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing.
I have been a vision therapist with Thrive Vision Therapy since its inception in June 2015. I was introduced to vision therapy when my youngest child was diagnosed with convergence insufficiency, an eye-coordination problem. Becoming my son’s home therapy partner gave me the insight and hands-on experience that confirmed my desire to help others with visual inefficiencies.
As a vision therapist, I am proud to be a part of a team that offers a compassionate, holistic, custom-designed treatment program, for our patients. I am passionate about teaching and helping people understand the impact vision can have on learning, as well as their daily life. However, the best part of my job is seeing a patient reach their highest visual potential and graduate from our vision therapy program.
When I am not at Thrive Vision Therapy I am spending time with my family. We love Minnesota and all the outdoor experiences each season has to offer.
Hello! My name is Candy and I will generally be the first point of contact you have at Thrive With Vision, as I am the receptionist. I strive to always make you feel welcome. My primary duty is answering the phone and checking patients in when they arrive for their appointments; but I also scan, fax, file, and take care of whatever comes across my desk. I am also in charge of ordering in and billing for contact lenses.
I have always prided myself on giving great customer service. That doesn’t mean that I will never make a mistake. If I do, I will own it and do everything I can to resolve it and to reinforce with you that you made the right choice to come to Thrive With Vision.
I am also very proud to be a part of the kind and caring staff here and to work with Dr. Miller. She always shows great compassion to her patients and is firmly committed to improving their lives as she works through their vision issues with them.
I am married to a loving, hard-working man and we have 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren and so far, 3 great-grandchildren. Figure in all the extras, and it makes up our greatest joy in life-spending time with our family. We live on a farm and enjoy campfires and going for rides on our side-by-side and our 4-wheelers.
Hi, I’m Deborah. I grew up in St. Paul, MN, married that country boy, and moved up North. My husband and I have two boys and a recent addition, a wonderful daughter-in- law. We have made Pierz, MN our home.
I worked for 3M, a St. Paul based company, for many years. Recently, I joined this amazing team at Thrive with Vision as a billing specialist. I’m so proud to be a part of it! My Interests include gardening, outdoor activities, and spending time with my family & friends.
I can contribute to the testimonial of pure excellence. In 1996, Dr. Miller diagnosed my son with amblyopia and esotropia. She encouraged a visit to MN Vision Therapy Center in Minneapolis (one of two clinics in the state of MN that handled Vision Therapy at that time). With weekly visits and much effort, we were able to make a life change with his vision.
We are fortunate to have Dr. Miller bring Vision Therapy and Optometry services to Little Falls, MN. Her extensive knowledge, brain injury specialty, and compassion/care to each individual patient makes Thrive with Vision a wonderful choice for vision care.
Director of Business Operations
While not from Little Falls, I am a small-town girl! I attended the University of St. Thomas and became a Certified Professional Project Manager. I have held various jobs in business as well as an ophthalmology office. Most recently I worked for DataMyte, a quality software and hardware company, as the Director of Business Operations. I managed the operations and small teams of people in marketing, customer service and administration.
I have known Dr. Miller all her life. I joined her team in June of 2020 because I know the empathy she has for her patients and her dedication in making their lives better. My goal is to help Dr. Miller grow the business and continue to have Thrive With Vision be the best resource and asset we can be to the community. While I am focused on working on the back office and business side of things, you may also find me answering phones, doing billing, fitting and adjusting glasses, assisting patients in Brain Tap Sessions and maybe even just chatting it up with patients. But shhhhhh – don’t tell Dr. Miller 😉
I am glad to be a part of this amazing community! My earliest memories of coming to Little Falls are as a child to see the dentist, Dr. Bramhall, who I’m sure was a fixture in the community. I loved seeing him, getting to pick a prize from the treasure box and then stopping by to see the water rush over the dam!
I have one daughter and she is off to college. She played volleyball and we spent most of our free time on the court, which I loved! Now that she is finding her way on her own as an adult, I too am finding my way with an empty nest. I am looking forward to exploring all this city on the river has to offer and serving its amazing people!
Optician/Patient Care Representative
Hi, I’m Stephanie. I joined Dr. Miller and her amazing team back in May of 2021. I am brand new to the optical world, and every day has been such a great learning experience. Being able to see so many new faces and meet so many new people has been such a fun perk to my job. I’m lucky to be a part of such a compassionate, caring team as Dr. Miller and her staff.
I have spent most of my years leading up to this point being a caregiver. I have been doing in-home care and working at an assisted living facility for many years. Taking care of people has always been such a big passion of mine.
Aside from being a mom of boys, which keeps me pretty busy, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love being outdoors and my favorite thing to do is laugh! I look forward to my future at Thrive With Vision and look forward to meeting and helping many new people.
Optician/Patient Care Representative
Hello, I’m Tasha. I’m so excited to have joined Dr. Miller’s team! I am new to the optician world but I have dived right in to learn everything I can to better serve you as the patient.
I started out right out of high school doing CNA work. I was a stay-at-home mom for a while and then switched to working independently taking care of the elderly in their homes. This led me to starting my own business cleaning for individuals and small businesses and also doing in-home care for people. I have always loved taking care of people and serving others.
I was born and raised in North Dakota. My family and I moved to the area in August of 2020 after living in Upstate New York for the last 16 years. I am married and a hockey mom of 3 very busy teenagers. In my free time, I enjoy reading, biking, boating, and hiking. I look forward to meeting all patients – new and already established here at Thrive With Vision.
